My approach to therapy

All the treatments I provide are designed to help you build the life you want to live. We will set goals for treatment collaboratively based on what's important to you.

Read below for additional information about some of the specific approaches I offer. I am also happy to consult over the phone to discuss what this looks like in practice before scheduling an appointment.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

CBT is a broad family of treatments, all of which aim to help you increase awareness and understanding of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It then provides strategies to help you change patterns that aren't serving your goals. I am experienced at using CBTs to treat:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • PTSD

  • OCD

  • ADHD

  • Insomnia

  • Tinnitus

Dialectical Behavior Therapy

DBT is a specialized form of CBT. In addition to targeting patterns of thoughts and behaviors, DBT incorporates principles of mindfulness and acceptance to help find balance in your life. This can include finding the middle path between accepting where you are and trying to change, between your needs and those of your loved ones, between logic and emotion, and more. DBT achieves this through individualized skills training. It can help with:

  • Intense, rapidly changing, or overwhelming emotions

  • Impulsivity

  • Difficulty tolerating distress or crises

  • Recurrent relationship conflicts, boundary problems, or unstable attachments

  • Black-and-white thinking and rigid beliefs

  • Difficulty regulating anger and outbursts

  • Recovering from chronic invalidation

Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy

CBASP is a specialized approach designed for chronic depression. This treatment aims to help you figure out how to build a life where you feel safe, supported, and in control. It can be helpful for those who struggle with:

  • Persistent feelings of loneliness

  • Lack of close, supportive relationships

  • Feeling hopeless about being able to affect the outcome of your life

  • Feeling like nothing you do matters
